Summer '25: Multi-Activity Promotional Identity
— ROLE
Typographic & Layout Designer
— TOOLS
Illustrator Photoshop
The primary objective was to consolidate two distinct summer activities (VBS & Basketball Clinic) into a single, high-impact visual that could be quickly absorbed by parents and the community. The challenge was creating a clear visual hierarchy that immediately communicated the summer fun energy, while simultaneously making the detailed event information easy to locate.
The design solution employed a bold, modular grid system and high-contrast color-blocking to segment the various pieces of information. We utilized extreme typographic contrast to ensure the most vital information (SUMMER '25) was visible from a distance, reserving the smaller, detailed text for essential registration data. This approach communicates energy while maintaining perfect clarity.
Typographic & Color Rationale
The layout anchors itself using a strong geometric sans-serif, Obviously Narrow Black, for the main headline, giving the poster a contemporary and confident feel. This is contrasted with a refined, condensed serif, Proxima Nova Condensed, used for the activity listings, ensuring maximum readability within a small space.
The high-saturation, warm color palette (Red, Orange, Purple) was chosen specifically to represent the "fun and exciting energy of summer" and achieve maximum visibility and engagement in high-traffic areas.
Application & Adaptability
The identity was designed for deployment across both print and digital mediums. While the A1 poster utilizes the full, detailed hierarchy for long-form viewing, the design was adapted for a 16:9 digital presentation slide.
